We've been tweeted! The guy who happened to sit next to us on the way from Nashville to Seattle (part 2 of the flight) seemed to think we (the "cute couple") were worth telling the whole world about! He was pretty enamored of his iPhone, and when we said that we didn't have our own iPhones, he told me confidently that he totally had me pegged as a "Mac guy"; oddly enough, the second time I've been told that in about 3 days. Hmmmmmm...
Here's his tweet. And here's our view of Mt. Rainier coming in to Seattle.

Landed around 12:45 Seattle time and were greeted by sunny 75 degree weather. Picked up our sweet whip (a Kia), and we're currently at Molly and David's beautiful home, where we'll be staying until Fridayish. Now, off to find a coffee shop. I sure hope they have those around here!

Now you are required to go to Rainer...or least drive past it. Of course you will be pulled away from the Washongton coast...however, it is worth it.....also...Mount Saint Helens....America's best example of large ecoloigcal succesion....
ReplyDeletetry to get out of the car along the Columbia river. If you recall from teaching the Columbia river is a huge Baslatic flow from a fissure that covers hundreds of sqaure miles. I believe it is the same mantle plume that currently fuels Yellowstone,....maybe. I am an ameatuer so....my thoughts are muddled. You will have to find outcroppings but you will be rewarded by interesting pics for our lectures next year....
I am pumped for you folks...we are starting to sweat ourselves.......
Peace
For sure man. We're looking ahead to Friday, and I think we'll probably hit up Rainier next and try to find a spot to camp around there. And I did get your message, and don't worry. Bagby is in for sure, along with Smith River. Can't wait to geek out on some geologic stuff. And wow, the plant life here in Seattle is amazing!
