Living in "Comfort"

School's out for summer, officially and in practice. Closed up shop at school this morning. Sarah and I spent the afternoon getting the remainder of our stuff together, cat-proofing the house, and enjoying some grilled Mahi Mahi. Tomorrow, the trip is on.

We spend tonight in the Comfort Inn a couple miles down the road from the Philly Airport. Wake up call at 6; Shuttle over to the airport at 6:30. An interesting side note about the Comfort Inn: apparently, undersized 16" square pillows are regarded as more comfortable. There are five of them lined up at the head of our bed, and zero of the traditional, larger, rectangular variety. Who are we to question the comfort experts?

I'm trying to think of the last time I was in another time zone. I think I've been on Eastern time for over a decade. Can that be? I mean, out of all the time zones, it's a pretty good one to be in, but it's time for a change. As of 12:55 PM (3:55 to you Pennsylvanians), Sarah and I will be in the land of coffee, Pearl Jam, and the Space Needle. I'm told there's actually more to Seattle than these trademark classics, but we'll reserve judgment for now and report further on that after we touch down in the Pacific Northwest.

On an unrelated musical note, I've been hooked on the new Sia album, We Are Born. Good to kick off our trip with because it's the happiest album I've heard in a long time, and I just can't turn it off. Here's my current favorite jam from the record. This is Sia playing at the TLA in Philly from last month. It was an incredible show, and yes she is wearing a dress made of red and white plastic bags. And the feather headdress was a home-made gift from a fan at the show.

I must say, I'm glad to finally see some real technological advancements in the blowing of bubbles.
